ABSTRACT
Fadhil al-Jamali (1903-1997) was a prominent statesman of Iraq’s Hashemite monarchy. One of his autobiographical texts concerns a military assistance agreement between Iraq and the US. Extending the fact/fiction bifurcation, this essay addresses the planting of evidence (a map of “Asia and Adjacent Areas”) to the suppression of documentation.
Key words: Arabism, communism, mauvaise foi, military agreement, Nasserism, United States.
